Commercial Airports

Commercial air transportation is available about an hour away at Columbus Regional Airport in Georgia. Other nearby airports include: Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) in Atlanta, and the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in Birmingham. Lanett Regional Airport

Lanett Municipal Airport is located approximately 5 miles Southwest of downtown Lanett. It is adjacent to I-85 and the Huguley Industrial Parks, and is accessible from Exit 77.

The airport currently has a 3,153’ runway with a new runway under design. The construction of the new runway is planned to begin in fall of 2017. The first phase of the planned construction will take the runway to 4,400’ with the ability to expand in further phases. The airport currently has 10 T-Hangars, 1 Maintenance Hangar and 2 Tie-Downs. The airport also provides self-serve AVGAS.

Railways

Rail service is provided in Lanett by CSX. The line runs throughout the city, including along AL Hwy 50 and adjacent to the Chattahoochee River. Additionally, a rail spur is located in the Huguley Industrial Park off Exit 77 on I-85.

Port Facilities

The City of Lanett is bordered on the Eastern edge by the Chattahoochee River. Port facilities are available within 45 miles in Phenix City, Alabama, as well as in Mobile, AL (250 miles) and Savannah, GA (240 miles).

Local Transportation

Seniors Transit Authority Service

The Transit Authority is the new Demand Response Service offered by the City of Lanett Recreation Department from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. The service is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. It is open to all seniors 55 years and over including disabled citizens (must be a citizen of Lanett, Alabama).

Transit Authority provides curb-to-curb service only. It is up to the passenger to make arrangements if other assistance is needed. The driver is not allowed to enter the home, garage or office building where the passenger is picked up or dropped off.

Passengers may schedule trips on Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. by calling 334-644-4316.

Groome Transportation Shuttle Service

Groome Transportation has a 24-hour shuttle to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Pick up takes place at the Hampton Inn located off Exit 77 on I-85.
