Code Enforcement
The current Code Enforcement Chief is Jerry Thrower Jerry Thrower has worked for the City Of Lanett for the past 6 Years. He has served the City in this capacity under the direction of the City Manager and is a member of South Alabama Code Officials Association. He is also OSHA certified in General Industry Safety and Health member number 700069637. In addition he is a current member of the International Code Congress. The City Inspector is
responsible for: Business
License’s - Purchase of license, including classification and
restrictions; license must be purchased prior to engaging in business and is
renewable each January. Make necessary contacts with business and individuals to
ensure proper license are obtained. Construction
Permit’s - Collection of fees for building, plumbing, electrical and
mechanical permits issued by code enforcement. Property Loss and
Control - under the direction and request of City Manager loss and
control of all property and coordinate with other departments and
agencies Inspections -
Code inspection for all new construction and installations. Inspections
requested for business license renewals. Inspection before alcohol license are
issued. Inspection of existing buildings within the City
limits. Safety
Coordinator - Coordinate between departments the safety of the City
employees. Maintain safety manuals and reporting as needed. Coordinate Loss
Control and department safety with other agencies. Report to City Manager on all
safety requirements. Maintain relationship with State and Federal agencies.
